Saturday 22nd September - In Town Without My Car DayThis year, the theme is 'streets for people' and the Council reclaimed St Petersgate Bridge in Stockport Market Place, to hold a safe, car-free fun day. Activities took place between 11am and 3pm and gave people a chance to enjoy walking, cycling, live music and much more, as part of the celebrations. Motorists across the borough were being encouraged to leave their cars at home on Saturday 22nd September to mark 'In Town Without My Car!' Day. This event was a great improvement on last year's effort. Unfortunately publicity, including an article in the civic review was too little, too late, so most people in Stockport on the day were unaware this event was taking place.
