Age of Stupid

In 2009 Stockport Friends of the Earth screened The Age of Stupid, the new four-year epic from McLibel director Franny Armstrong. Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite stars as a man living alone in the devastated world of 2055, looking at old footage from 2008 and asking: why didn't we stop climate change when we had the chance?   Trailer

On the same day Stockport Councillors Goddard and White featured in articles in local newspapers promoting building the high carbon infrastructure SEMMMs road to the airport which will lock us into the "Age of Stupid" for decades to come!

10:10

10:10 is a British climate change campaign for a 10% reduction in carbon emissions in 2010. The project aims to demonstrate public support, apply pressure to the government to commit to national cuts.

Cllr Stuart Bodsworth, Executive Member for the Environment said "The Council is always exploring ways to make Stockport an even greener borough, and we are delighted to sign up to 10:10. It is a very challenging target that the Council will do its best to meet. I hope other Stockport organisations and households will join us in signing up to the pledge."
