Finding out, monitoring and influencing what's going onStockport Friends of the Earth are concerned about protecting and preserving our local environment. We invite Council officers along to our meetings from time to time. They talk to us about what they are doing and planning to do, and we discuss issues of concern including, of course, climate change.
Stockport Friends of the Earth have a representative on the Stockport Environment Partnership with Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council. Following a request from Stockport Friends of the Earth, 2000 fruit trees have been planted in 13 Community Orchards which will help to improve the health and well-being of the people of Stockport. The Goyt Valley
The Goyt Valley is home to many rare and protected species, and is a valuable natural resource, one of the few truly green areas left in our borough. Stockport Friends of the Earth wish to ensure that The Goyt Valley can continue to be enjoyed by the people of Stockport as a tranquil place to visit away from the noise of road traffic. Why not take an afternoon walk in our beautiful local countryside. MapSustainable TransportIf we travelled in ways that actually benefited our health and our environment, we would have safe roads, cleaner air and a better quality of life. More info
