Scientists urge strong climate targets for 2020Leading climate scientists have called on the Government to make quicker and deeper emissions cuts.
A new report by the respected Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research demands urgent Government action on climate change. The report says the UK must adopt at least 42% cuts in carbon emissions by 2020. It also says cuts must be made here in the UK instead of paying other countries to cut emissions then counting them as ours. Keeping up to date on climate changeThe Tyndall scientists analysed the recommendations of the Committee on Climate Change (CCC). In December 2008 the CCC suggested two targets for reducing carbon emissions:
